Provides care in accordance with the standards of nursing care; participates in development and implementation of nursing care according to policy/procedure; monitors and records patient information.

Demonstrates knowledge of infection control practices, safe equipment use, safety policies, and appropriate actions in disaster situations.

In accordance with policies and legal limitations administers specified medications as prescribed by physicians. Familiar with actions, contraindications, adverse reactions, dosage, and route of administration on drugs before administering.

Assists in assessing and providing health care education to meet the needs of the patient and family and is involved in education programs which enhance professional growth.

Communicates effectively with the patient, family, health care team members (verbally, nonverbally, and written). Shows respect and maintains confidentiality.

Implements the physicians orders promptly and adequately with understanding of the purpose of each order as it relates to the patients plan of care.

Experience:

A minimum of 1 year experience preferred.

Education/Licensure

Graduate from an accredited Practical or Vocational School of nursing.

Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state in which you reside is required.


BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.


NRP certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must have knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards.

Must possess competent nursing skills; BLS Certification required and good communication skills.

Must demonstrate a high level of motivation, team orientation; professionalism and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
